First Day of School

The first day & starting our new curriculum didn't go off without a hitch. I was hoping to wake up earlier than Cerdwin, get a shower, a cup of coffee, and check my email, DanRiverMommies.com, and get myself ready for the day. Of course that didn't happen. She was up at the crack of dawn and in bed with MeMaw watching cartoons. I woke up around 8am to her screeching because the power went off. We had breakfast and got started on a few things around 9am. By 10am she was ready for a break and wanted to go outside. Who was I to argue? The weather was so pleasant. We stayed outside until nearly 6pm. She played on the swings & slides, climbed trees, shoveled dirt, played in birdseed, rode her bike, and tormented the kittens. I was able to get started reading my new book:

I also nearly finished the other book I have been reading:
Point Blank (FBI Thriller) by Catherine Coulter















We came in to fix something for lunch and took it out on the porch to eat. She and I did a little pruning and cleaning up out around the basement and back porch. Cerdwin got stung by a yellow jacket while on the back porch. She made those bees some kind of angry. One chased us all the way in the house. Somehow I managed to slam the door just in time to catch it in the door jamb. After putting an ice pack on the bee sting and watching Sid the Science Kid, then doing a few activities on Sid's website, I was able to prepare dinner while she watched another cartoon. We went back outside while the meatloaf was in the oven.
All in all it was a good day and she went to bed without much protest. Off to bed for me!
